Morton’s 2013 Electronic Recycling Event – Sept 7, 2013

Saturday, September 7, 2013, 9:00am – 12:00pm
Morton Borough Hall, 500 Highland Avenue, Morton, PA

Morton Borough, in conjunction with Pennsylvania Resources Council and Ecovanta, will be holding an Electronic Recycling Event for those in our Community on Saturday, September 7th, 2013 from 9:00am to 12:00pm.

This is the perfect time to dispose of those items that are not recyclable during our weekly Thursday curbside collections.  So what is considered as Electronic or E-Waste?  It’s pretty simple, if it has a cord and does not contain Freon (computers, cd players, small printers) and is not a Large appliance, it’s considered E-Waste and can be disposed of at this event.

MortonEWasteEvent20130907_v2Examples of acceptable e-waste items are: Computers / Laptops / Monitors, Computer Mice / Keyboards / Peripherals, CD Players, VCR / DVD Players, Cell Phones / Phones, Small Home Office Copiers / Fax Machines, Printers, TVs / Radios / Stereos, MP3 Players, Electronic Toys and Games, Photo and Video Cameras, Microwave Ovens, Mixed Household Electronics, Loose Batteries etc.

Examples of prohibited items that will NOT be accepted are: Hazardous Wastes / Liquids, Toner Cartridges, Fluorescent Lamps, Common Electrical Appliances (e.g., washers, dryers, stoves, air conditioners, refrigerators, satellite dishes, space heaters).  Items containing Freon and Large Appliances will NOT be accepted.

As a general safety precaution, you should always make sure information in data storage devices, such as computers, smart phones, copiers, etc., is completely removed prior to donation or recycling.

If you need assistance removing large or unusually sized items, contact the Borough directly at 610-543-4565 or via email at no later than Thursday, Sept. 5th and we will assist you with the items removal.
