Halloween is a time of fun and fantasy for all us and it’s right around the corner. While you’re planning design ideas for your Halloween costume, we’d like you to keep in mind some safety tips before heading out to trick or treat this month by yourself or with little ones:
- Figure out your candy route before leaving home! This comes in especially handy once it gets dark and every street starts to look and sound the same. Which brings us to our next tip …
- Carry your flashlight and cell phone with you at all times in case of an emergency. You don’t want to trip over any sticks, leaves or loose debris that might be hanging around, so bring your flashlight to help light your way.
- Accept candy from doorways & entrances only – do not walk into a stranger’s home! It’s always better to be safe than sorry.
- Wait until getting HOME to eat candy! It’s always best to wait until you are home and can give your candy a good once over before digging in to it’s chocolately goodness.
- See and be seen! On Halloween night, kids are swarming the streets and need to watch out for cars and other traffic. Make sure your mask / costume doesn’t cover your eyes or make it tough for you to see where you’re going. Kids also need to be seen on Halloween, so it’s a good idea to wear or carry something that glows in the dark (flashlight!) such as a glowing necklace, a glow-in-the-dark treat bag, or applying reflective tape to your costume.
- Trick or Treat with a group! It’s always more fun to go with a group of friends or neighbors, especially on a busy night like Halloween. And a bonus on going in groups? You get to swap your collected candy at the end of the night!
Have a ghoulishly fun Halloween!
