Is there anything that can be done regarding a pedestrian crossing at Morton & Mitchell Avenue? Why does someone have to be run over, especially during rush hour? Is there not anyone in Morton Borough government willing to be pro-active and deal with this issue.

I realize you cannot control the volumn of traffic, however there are things you could do. For instance, turn Mitchell Avenue into a oneway street. Cars coming up Mitchell cannot see traffic coming at them from 420 due to all the parked cars in front of the shops in Morton, so they have no choice but to pull half way out into traffic coming down Morton Avenue from Rutledge. They are too busy with avoiding being hit by another car to see the pedestrian right in front of them trying to cross the street. Only allow cars to make a right off of Morton Ave. onto Mitchell Ave. Why can’t this be done?

Another idea would turn Morton & Mitchell into a crosswalk for Pedestrians, similar to what they have in some shore towns in Jersey. If a pedestrian is waiting to cross ALL cars must stop, until the pedestrian has made it through the crosswalk. Police would obviously have to enforce this in the beginning. It’s worth a try!

Please consider these suggestions. I have almost gotten hit twice just trying to cross the street to get to my home. It’s always bad there at that corner however it always seems to get worse when we switch from DLS time to STD time.
